2024 CSR

In recent years, the global business community has increasingly embraced Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a pivotal aspect of sustainable development. Prince Holding Group, through its philanthropic arm, Prince Foundation, under the visionary leadership of Chairman Neak Oknha Chen Zhi, exemplifies how targeted CSR initiatives can profoundly impact local communities in Cambodia. Through a range of strategic programs and collaborations, Prince Holding Group has demonstrated that small CSR ripples can indeed create waves of significant change.

The Group’s dedication to CSR is evident in its wide range of initiatives, including over 250 philanthropic endeavors benefiting more than 1.3 million people, with donations exceeding US$16 million to date.

Chen Zhi Scholarship: Entering the Third Year of Implementation

One of the cornerstone initiatives of Prince Holding Group is the Chen Zhi Scholarship Program, launched in 2021 under the auspices of the Prince Foundation. This seven-year, US$2 million initiative aims to support 400 Cambodian university students from diverse backgrounds in areas such as information technology, engineering, computer science, international business management, media and communications, civil engineering, digital economics, and hospitality. Beyond financial aid, the program provides monthly soft skill workshops, internships, and career experiences.

Reflecting on the transformative power of education, Bo Lyza, a Chen Zhi scholarship recipient and third year student from the Royal University of Phnom Penh student shared, “One important lesson I’ve learned from this scholarship is that ‘Opportunity doesn’t come easily.’ You must grab it, fight for it, take risks, and step out of your comfort zone… I’m grateful I took this incredible opportunity from the Chen Zhi scholarship program, which has greatly improved my life.” These words resonate with the essence of the scholarship program, emphasizing the importance of seizing opportunities for personal growth and development.

Since its inception, Chen Zhi scholars have received monthly workshops on presentation skills, leadership, and artificial intelligence to boost confidence and practical skills. Expert trainers like Mr. Alywin Oh, Founder and Lead Trainer at Brighton Academy, have been involved in these workshops.

The scholarship also emphasizes cultural enrichment. Chen Zhi scholars were encouraged to participate in Cambodia’s international kite-flying festival, SkyFest, where they engaged in team-building activities and learned about Khmer kite craftsmanship. Additionally, an educational visit to the SOSORO Museum provided insights into Cambodia’s monetary history, further broadening their horizons.

These diverse activities underscore Prince Foundation’s commitment to empowering Cambodian youth, equipping them with essential skills and cultural knowledge to thrive in an increasingly complex world.

Craftsmanship and Unity through Prince Horology

Founded with a vision to preserve Cambodian artisanal skills, the Prince Horology Vocational Training Center stands as a testament to Chairman Chen Zhi’s commitment to excellence and heritage. This pioneering institution offers scholarships to Cambodians for specialized training in Swiss watchmaking, equipping students with skills aligned with global standards in Swiss craftsmanship. By nurturing a skilled workforce trained by Swiss professionals with over 60 years of collective watchmaking experience internationally, the center is optimistic about a future that contributes to Cambodia’s economic growth and cultural preservation.

The journey of students at the Prince Horology Vocational Training Center has been transformative. The creation of the ASEAN Lotus Tourbillon watches, symbolizing ASEAN’s unity and strength, showcases the blend of craftsmanship and meaningful symbolism. These timepieces not only serve as a reminder of the 2022 ASEAN and Related Summits but also exemplify the spirit of collaboration and innovation fostered by the Vocational Training Center.

Celebrating Sporting Excellence

One of the most tangible impacts of Prince Holding Group’s CSR initiatives is seen in the realm of sports. Prince Foundation has continually supported the Cambodia Men’s National Volleyball team over the last six years, highlighting the Group’s commitment to fostering national pride and encouraging athletic excellence. The Men’s National Volleyball team won a silver medal at the SEA Games last year.

From September 2022 to September 2023, Prince Foundation supported the Cambodian Wheelchair Basketball Federation, led by H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch. This support illustrated the positive impact of assistance to victims suffering from hazardous explosives and physical disabilities. Sports provide psychosocial support, a coping mechanism for past traumas, and a way to move forward with a goal in mind. In a remarkable achievement during the 2023 ASEAN Para Games, the Cambodian women’s wheelchair basketball team won the country’s first gold medal in the 3-on-3 event and secured a silver medal in the 5×5 event. These victories underscore the importance of supporting adaptive sports and providing platforms for athletes with disabilities to shine.

Venturing into uncharted waters, the Cambodia Men’s National Water Polo Team underwent a week-long training session in Singapore, thanks to the joint effort of the Khmer Swimming Federation (KSF), Singapore Swimming Association, and Prince Foundation. In addition to the invaluable experience and exposure to advanced training models, the initiative further strengthened relationships between international communities, thereby exemplifying the potential for growth and collaboration in the sporting arena.
